The SFedU project "Small roles – big opportunities" became one of the winners of the regional stage of the international award #Wetogether in the nomination "Teaching by serving"

The project of 4th year students of the SFedU branch in Novoshakhtinsk, Taisiya Budyleva and Yulia Sapreko, led by PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Technologies Evgenia Martynova, took 3rd place in the regional stage of the international award #Wetogether in the nomination "Teaching by serving".

The project is implemented in partnership with Novoshakhtinskaya boarding school and is aimed at creating conditions for the harmonious development, inclusion, and social adaptation of children with ASD and intellectual level below the norm of Novoshakhtinsk through puppet theater activities. 

Within the framework of the project, students conducted classes and master classes with children on making dolls (glove, finger and paper), speech technique, acting, as well as rehearsals, games and improvisations with dolls for the purpose of art therapy and correction; made screens and decorations for performances (sewing, painting, decor etc.), conducted individual pedagogical work with participants; organized public performances, including field trips.

"Due to the fact that the project was carried out in the methodology of the "Teaching by Serving" approach, students not only completed social and civic tasks, but also gained professional competencies. The result was the employment of students participating in the project at the Novoshakhtinsk boarding school. This is an example of a successful partnership and this academic year the project will be implemented within the framework of extracurricular activities of an educational institution," said Evgenia Martynova, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Technologies at the Institute of Philosophy and Socio-Political Sciences, head of the Small Roles – Big Opportunities project.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the project team plans to hold a theater festival for children with disabilities.

The finalists of the regional stage will receive expert support, letters of support, meetings with the leadership of the region will be organized for them, as well as additional promotion opportunities on the Dobro.rf platform.
