Students and staff of ETA SFedU took part in the "Blood Donation Cup – 2024"

10.10.2024

On October 9, a donor event was held in the building "D" of ETA SFedU, which was attended by students and staff of the Southern Federal University.

The initiative to hold donor actions at the SFedU Academy of Engineering and Technology belongs to the donors of the Institute of Computer Technology and Information Security.

"The motivation of the guys is different: someone faced a problem when a loved one needed blood, now hospitals and medical institutions need blood, they also need to provide a strategic supply of blood in case of emergency situations. Our students are always ready to mobilize and come to the rescue to save the lives of others. I would like to note that from September to October 2024, the Rostov Region hosts the "Blood Donation Cup – 2024", which is attended by students and employees of educational institutions. According to the results of the donor campaigns, the top 3 most active educational institutions will be determined by the number of donations," said Anton Kumov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Computer Technology and Information Security of the SFedU.

For the sixth time, the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, the Rostov regional branch of the All-Russian Public Organization Russian Red Cross and the Trade Union Organization of the Southern Federal University have supported the donor campaign in ETA SFedU.

"We are very grateful to all participants of such actions, as people realize the importance of blood, plasma, and bone marrow donation.  After all, even one blood donation can save 3 human lives. Today we want to support donors a little and treat all participants of the campaign with tea and cookies," said Ekaterina Kachanova, coordinator of donation and volunteer activities at the Rostov regional branch of the Russian Red Cross.

This time, the action was decided to be held in the hall of the Academic Council of ETA SFedU. There were three donor chairs installed, near each of which there were special scales for collecting blood. There was a long queue of those who wanted to donate blood.

"I am taking part in the campaign for the second time. This is a good thing, because our blood can greatly help people who need it. For example, to the participants of the SVO or the affected residents of the Kursk region," Daniil Kolomits, a 3rd–year student of the SFedU Institute of Computer Technologies and Information Security, shared his impressions of the action.

"I have long wanted to take part in the donation campaign and I am glad that today I had such an opportunity. I felt a little discomfort at first, but then everything returned to normal. I think my blood will benefit people," said Olga Soboleva, a 2–year graduate student at SFedU Institute of Nanotechnologies, Electronics and Equipment Engineering.

76 students and employees of ETA SFedU became participants of the donation campaign, who donated more than 34 liters of blood.

The donation campaign takes place in ETA SFedU twice a year and is very popular. Any student or university employee over the age of 18 can become a participant without medical contraindications.

The event is held in order to attract students to blood donation and help seriously ill people with the most difficult operations in which blood transfusion is required.

The organizers of the "Blood Donation Cup – 2024" are the Rostov regional branch of the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Red Cross" and the All-Russian public and state organization "Union of Women of Russia". Co-organizers and partners of the cup: GBU RO "Blood Transfusion Station"; Federal State Budgetary Institution "SEC FMBA of Russia in Rostov-on-Don"; Ministry of Health of the Rostov region; Committee on Youth Policy of the Rostov region; Council of Rectors of Universities of the Rostov region.
