Alexey Karapetyants is on a short-term scientific visit to the University of Catania at the invitation of Professor Maria Alessandra Ragusa, who is a long-time partner of the RSEMC SFedU. Moreover, A.N.Karapetyants was an official opponent at the defense of Maria Alessandra's dissertation in Lulea, Sweden, in 2012.

In his lecture, A.N.Karapetyants presented new results, a general scheme for the aggrandization of metric spaces. The issues of space aggrandization arise naturally when solving partial differential equations for real-world problems.

Alexey Karapetyants also discussed possible areas of cooperation with professors of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Catania.
