The lectures were on the topic "Some basic ideas of machine learning" for students of Shandong University and the Vocational Institute of Puyang City (China) as part of an advertising campaign to promote the master's program "Financial mathematics and machine learning".
The lectures discussed the basic ideas of machine learning and connections with other areas of mathematics, especially probability theory, statistics and optimization methods. Examples of software implementation of machine learning technologies and algorithms using the scikit-learn library were given.
The presentation was aimed at undergraduate graduates in applied mathematics and related specialties. In the final part, it was told about the English-language master's program "Financial mathematics and machine learning", which is planned to be implemented at the Institute for Mathematics, Mechanics, and Computer Science in the name of I.I. Vorovich. The lectures were also attended by representatives of the management of these universities.
