Over the years, students from the CIS countries, China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Algeria, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, the Republic of Chad, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Cuba, and others have studied there. Over the past few years, applicants from Turkmenistan have been actively enrolling in various fields of study. And currently, the institute has the largest contingent of such students. The children are separated from their homes and relatives, and many face language barriers, cultural and mental differences that prevent them from fully integrating into the student environment.

In order to facilitate the adaptation of foreign students, as well as support intercultural communication, a festive evening dedicated to the upcoming New Year was organized on December 18, 2024 with the participation of the Primary Trade Union Organization of the SFedU, the Trade Union Bureau and the Directorate of the Institute of Earth Sciences, heads of educational programs. Bright vocal and dance performances accompanied by the national music of Turkmenistan were prepared and presented by foreign students of the first and second courses. Rousing dances were presented to the participants of the evening by beauties in traditional national costumes. The audience greeted each performance with a loud ovation. The whole hall sang along to the artists while singing a song glorifying the Republic of Turkmenistan.

Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, dressed in traditional outfits, presented gifts to the concert participants. The guys conducted a fun quiz where each correct answer was rewarded with a sweet prize. The festive evening ended with a tasting of dishes of Turkmen national cuisine. All the spectators and participants of the event were satisfied with the celebration and expressed the wish that it would become a good tradition.
