SFedU delegation participates in the International Festival "Peoples of Russia and the CIS"

The International Festival "Peoples of Russia and the CIS" is organized by the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs (FADN of Russia) under the coordination of the Office of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

The event is dedicated to the celebration of National Unity Day and is one of the key annual events in the field of state national policy.

The delegation of the Rostov region included:

Alexander Nikitochkin, Minister of Regional Policy and Mass Communications of the Rostov Region;

Maxim Danilenko, Deputy Minister of Regional Policy and Mass Communications of the Rostov Region, Head of the Department for Interaction with Civil Society Institutions and International Relations;

Andrey Bedryk, Director of the Institute of Sociology and Regional Studies of the Southern Federal University;

Andrey Zhivotkevich, Chairman of the public organization RNKA "Belarusians of the Rostov region";

Nadiya Kurmakayeva, Chairman of the Rostov Regional public organization Tatar-Bashkir Cultural Center Yaktashlar;

Ashot Gugulyan, Chairman of the Board of the Rostov Regional Youth Public Organization "Don Union of Armenian Youth";

Esmira Mustafayeva, the head of the Rostov regional public organization "Azerbaijani National Cultural Autonomy" .

The opening ceremony of the Festival took place at the World Trade Center. The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, read out a welcoming address on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. The plenary session was moderated by Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation.

The plenary session was attended by Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Igor Barinov, Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, Alexander Rogozhnik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation, and Marat Imankulov, Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In his speech at the plenary session "The Peoples of Russia and the CIS: Protecting values, striving for the future," Igor Barinov, Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, emphasized:

"The Russian language has become a communicative means of interethnic and, in a certain sense, supranational communication, uniting citizens of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Language is a great power!"

During the meeting, key approaches to the implementation of state national policy in the context of modern challenges and threats, issues of developing interethnic cooperation and strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values were discussed.

All participants unanimously noted that the national policy of the Russian Federation plays a strategic role in ensuring internal stability and security, consolidating society, forming a unified civic identity, and strengthening good-neighborly relations with the States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
