Since 2014, Southern Federal University has been the site of the selection round of the Open International Student Internet Olympiads (OIIO - Open International Internet Olympiad), the purpose of which is to "form an effective system for identifying, supporting and developing abilities and talents among children and youth", revealing the creative and scientific potential of students, and forming the need to engage in research activities.

Every year, students of the Southern Federal University actively participate in these Olympiads, showing the best results in 14 disciplines. In connection with the successful performance of our university students in the Open International Student Internet Olympiads of 2024, the Southern Federal University was awarded the honorary title "Winner of the Open International Student Internet Olympiads of 2024" with the possibility of placing a banner with the logo of the Internet Olympiads on the SFedU website.
