On May 25, the final of the National Student Chess League took place in the Moscow region.
The competition was held for the first time, but it has an analogy with the Russian Student Championship. Such a comparison is possible due to the online selection stages, which identified the best universities in each district. Thus, only one team from each federal district qualified for the finals.
The SFedU national team won convincingly, which allowed it to qualify for the final part of the tournament.
At the qualifying stage and in the final, SFedU was represented by a team consisting of Vladislav Sipetin (1st year of Master's degree, Institute for Sociology and Regional Studies), Maxim Alpin (3rd year, Institute for Earth Sciences) and Ekaterina Donchenko (1st year, Academy of Biology and Biotechnologies).
Until the last round, the SFedU national team struggled to get into the top three, showing a high level of play.
