A professor from Turkey gave a lecture at the SFedU mathematical seminar

11 июля 2025 г.

On July 10, a lecture by Ali Mostafazade, a professor at Kos University, Turkey, was held as part of the regular scientific seminar of the RSEMC SFedU. The seminar was led by Professors A.N. Karapetyants and V.V. Kravchenko.

Ali Mostafazade is a PhD candidate, Professor at Kos University and a full member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences since 2007. He holds a PhD in physics and mathematics. Since 2007, he has been a member of the Executive Board of the Scientific Research Institute of Fundamental Sciences. His research interests include mathematics, physics, and engineering.

On July 10, Professor Mostafazade gave a lecture on the existence of a fundamental transfer matrix in potential scattering, the propagating wave approximation, and the accuracy of the Born approximation. Potential scattering can be formulated in terms of the fundamental concept of the transfer matrix, which is a linear operator that can be decomposed into a Dyson series given by an effective non-self-consistent Hamiltonian operator. This approach to potential scattering has so far led to several interesting developments in two and three dimensions. The most notable of these are the construction of the first examples of short-range potentials for which the Born approximation of the first order is accurate. Professor Mostafazade presented the first step towards a rigorous proof of the existence of a fundamental transfer matrix in two dimensions.

The seminar "Seminar on Analysis, Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics" was attended by about thirty mathematicians - specialists from the world's leading scientific and educational centers in Russia and other countries, including graduate students and students of the SFedU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics and young scientists.

Online scientific seminar of the Regional Scientific and Educational Mathematical Center (https://rmc.sfedu.ru /) is held regularly every two weeks. Announcements of new seminars and videos of previous seminars are available on the website http://msrn.sfedu.ru/sl . The seminar features leading researchers from around the world whose research interests are related to analysis, differential equations, and mathematical physics. The scientific seminar of the mathematical center is open, everyone can take part in it.
