Bound by the same chain "Oh, where are you, brother?": Student Spring 2025 of the SFedU Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Sciences

02.04.2025

On March 31, the Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Sciences presented a concert "Oh, where are You, Brother?" at the Rostov-on-Don Regional House of Folk Art.  This production was based on the film of the same name by the Coen brothers.

The action takes place during the Great Depression in the USA and revolves around three escaped convicts Everett McGill, Pete Hogwallop, Delmar O'Donnell.

According to Everett, he was jailed for robbery, but managed to hide more than a million dollars before his arrest. He promises to divide the loot into three, and his prison brothers agree to escape from prison in the hope of fabulous enrichment.

Along the way, the characters have many unusual adventures: a meeting with a musician who sold his soul to the devil, a priest who absolves sins, and nymphs who possess the secrets of magic.

Later, it turns out that Everett did not embark on a risky venture for the sake of money at all, and he simply invented this story with a million dollars. The real reason for the escape is that his wife Penny is marrying someone else. Everett still hopes to get his beloved back. Will his hopes be fulfilled? What will be the fate of the fugitives? The answer will be given at the end of the concert.

This production is aimed at every viewer. After all, many people can make mistakes in life, but relatives and friends who do not lose faith in us help to cope with difficulties.

On the stage of ODNT, the audience saw a performance in which the SFedU Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Sciences presented vocal and dance numbers with memorable special effects, a video sequence with the characters' journey after escaping from prison, and stills in the style of silent films.

The full recording of the concert can be viewed on the page of the Department of Culture and Creativity in the Vk group.
