Love that inspires: "The Flying Ship": Student Spring 2025 of the SFedU Academy of Biology and Biotechnology

04.04.2025

On April 2, the Rostov-on-Don Regional House of Folk Art hosted the Flying Ship concert of the Academy of Biology and Biotechnology.

The student production is based on the 2024 Russian musical fantasy film The Flying Ship, based on the 1979 animated film of the same name.

From the first minutes of the concert, a dramatic atmosphere reigns on the stage of ODNT – "in a certain kingdom" the treasury is completely empty. To solve the problem, the rich man Polkan offers a deal: he promises to give the king a miracle machine that turns iron into gold, in exchange for agreeing to marry the ruler's daughter Zabava to his son Paul.

A conflict is brewing – Zabava does not want to get married without love. The princess dreams of finding her own chosen one and therefore resists the wedding, but her father forbids her to even think about it. She accidentally meets Ivan, a mechanic, who promises to take her away on a flying ship that he will build himself.

Remembering Ivan's words, the princess announces to Polkan's son that she will marry only the one who will build a flying ship in three days.

Although he has a difficult task to solve, Ivan does not give up and continues to look for ways to save the Fun. Meeting a Water Man on the way, Ivan tells him his story. He also learns about the dark past of the fraudster Polkan. The sea king helps the mechanic to build an aircraft.

There will be difficult trials ahead for Ivan and Zabava, but in the end, true love will overcome any obstacles, the good done will always return a hundredfold, and cunning and deception will be punished.

The authors of the concert have prepared a lot of interesting scenic finds that will attract the attention of the audience until the end of the performance. Covers of popular songs from the animated film "The Flying Ship" are juxtaposed with compositions by foreign rock bands, dance numbers combine modern choreography and lighting effects, and pantomime reminds that ABIB students have many creative ideas.

The full recording of the concert can be viewed on the page of the Department of Culture and Creativity in the Vk group.
