The Russian-African Network University Summer Multidisciplinary University is one of the projects implemented by Southern Federal University within the framework of the Russian-African Network University consortium with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Among the participants there are 10 citizens from Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Togo, students and graduates of Russian universities.

Welcoming remarks were made by Sergey Goryainov, Director of the Institute of Tourism, Service and Creative Industries, Tatiana Goryainova, Director of the Agency for Tourism and Business Communications of the Rostov Region, and Gerges Bola Reda Banub, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Rector of the Southern Federal University in Africa and the Middle East, IT faculty member.

Tatiana Goryainova spoke about the main directions of development of the Rostov region as a tourist region. She focused on the uniqueness of the region's brand and its potential to attract guests. The audience learned about the cultural, natural and historical sights of the region. The participants of the Summer University noted that the Rostov region is not inferior to Moscow and St. Petersburg in terms of attractiveness. They stressed the importance of eco-tourism and historical heritage, as well as the role of simplifying visa formalities to increase the flow of tourists from Africa.

Sergey Goryainov noted that the Institute of Tourism, Service and Creative Industries is implementing this project for the fourth time. The experience of previous years has made it possible to make it more focused. During the lecture, Sergey Gennadievich analyzed the impact of tourism on the global economy, emphasizing the importance of this industry as a factor of economic growth and a tool for the development of regions. This is especially true for the Rostov region with its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.

 

Gerges Bola Reda Banub emphasized that despite the differences in origin, all participants in Rostov are united by the Russian language and love for Russia.  Bola encouraged the participants to make the most of the project by gaining valuable knowledge and experience that will be useful in their professional activities.

Within the framework of the Russian-African Network University Summer Multidisciplinary University, Southern Federal University implements two tracks: cultural and historical; educational - "Organization of ecological tours and excursions in protected natural areas."

The cultural and educational track includes a visit to the village of Starocherkasskaya, acquaintance with the history of the Cossack Don (Starocherkassk Museum-Reserve, Museum of Cossacks in exile, tasting of traditional Cossack lunch, kayaking on the Don River); conducting a historical excursion program in the multimedia center "Russia – my history"; visiting the Southern Park of Birds "Malinki", Botanical Garden of the Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don).

The project opens up new opportunities for strengthening international relations and developing the professional competencies of the participants, contributing to the formation of a solid foundation for future cooperation between Russia and African countries

For reference: The Russian-African Network University was established to coordinate efforts to develop Russian-African cooperation in the field of education and science.

Today, it includes 90 Russian universities, 5 Russian research centers, 46 African universities and 5 organizations with a total of 146 participants. The RAFU educational model is a single pool of courses and disciplines available to the consortium members in Russian, English and French.  The same courses will form the basis of joint educational programs.
